Marja Thompson
Executive Director
Marja Thompson has proven herself to be a leader in the field of Management. Her background includes successful senior managerial positions in the Recruitment and Transport industries in both Europe and Australia. This experience is supported by degrees in management and marketing, a Company Directors Diploma and acknowledged by her Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Allan Law
Director of Corporate Partnerships
Allan Law has over 40 years experience in the automotive industry and has worked in OEM, parts and service, national sales and marketing for the bulk transport, truck, LCV and passenger vehicles sectors. He also holds a United Kingdom Higher National Certificate in Automotive Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.
Ken Thompson
Director of Research & Communications
Ken Thompson is one of the foremost experts in vehicle safety in Australia. He is currently a representative on Standard’s Australia Road Safety Management Committee, has represented AfMA at State and Federal Government hearings, consults for the Western Australian Office of Road Safety and has presented at the American National Association of Fleet Administrators national conference. He also holds a Masters in Innovation and Service Management, a degree in Management Studies, a Company Directors Diploma and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mel Nelson
Operations Manager
Mel Nelson moved to Australia from Canada in 1999 and owned and operated her own business until joining AfMA in 2007. Her responsibilities include organising all of AfMA's events and the day to day operation of the Association. She has an Honours BA and a Graduate Certificate in Business Management.
Alexander Edwards
Events and Special Projects Coordinator
Alexander Edwards joins AfMA as part of the regular team after providing office and event support on a contract basis for a number of years. With undergraduate qualifications in media production as well as business management, he recently completed a Masters in Arts Management. This combined with years of experience working with major festivals in Melbourne means he has the breadth of skills to provide operations, event, communication and media support to the Association.
