Greener Motoring How To Guide
The issue of environmental pollution affect us all. In line with the heightened awareness of the need to address global warming, we believe that there is an acceptance of responsibility by organisations to reduce their environmental impact.
For several years, AfMA has advocated to the controllers of vehicle fleets the need to take positive measures to reduce vehicle emissions and to reduce costs.
The AfMA Greener Motoring ‘How to Guide’ provides a structured approach to practical fleet operations. It summarises a set of processes and procedures necessary to achieve fuel reduction, environmental benefits and cost savings within an organisation’s fleet operations.
The Guide describes how a workplace can produce environmental policy, strategy and targets for fuel reduction. It demonstrates a process of matching the transportation needs for the organisation with “fit for purpose” vehicles and identifies the best choice of fuels for that operation. Furthermore, the Guide illustrates a series of measures to optimise and reduce fuel usage.
By evaluating the “lifecycle costing” of vehicles, organisations are able to select more efficient models and monitor their fuel consumption. With this Guide, one can also make use of Key Performance Indicators as an insight to fuel reduction and safety.
